Kites provided, Wishes needed.
We make wishes when we blow out our birthday candles. We make wishes in houses of worship. On Earth Day what wish will you make?
Who should get the first wish at 10:30am? Should it be the Mayor of Saint Paul? Should it be the artist? Should it be a millionaire? We decided the first wish should go to the first baby born that day on Earth Day. We won't know who will make the first wish until a new life begins.
The last wish will be flown at 4pm. After five hours of blue kites, a red kite of silk and bamboo, will pierce the sky. We'll send it up with drums and flutes.
Our event is a time and place for everyone to make a wish. Along the Mississippi, take a deep breath. Feel the wind on the kite-string on your fingertips. On Earth Day what wish will you make?
